KALAMAZOO RIVER VALLEY TRAILWAY
A View of the Kalamazoo River
from the Trailway
Working to realize the vision of a
continuous public trailway along or near the Kalamazoo
River stretching from Allegan to Battle Creek - a
distance of 50 or 60 miles. The trailway will be home to
numerous recreational activities and benefit its
communities through its recreational opportunities,
non-motorized mode of transportation, nature appreciation
and economic growth through community revitalization and
tourism. Construction of the first leg of the KRVT, at
Sutherland Park, began in the Spring of 1996. The next
phase, the Fort Custer Trailway along with the Kal-Haven
to Kalamazoo trailway is nearing the construction phase.
